  1. Put clear tape over it. Not to fix it. To keep dirt out of the break, because a dirty crack cannot be resin repaired later.
  2. Do not blast the defroster. A cold windshield and hot air is how a small star becomes a crack across the whole glass.
  3. Call before you call the insurer. We handle the claim with them, and in Missouri comprehensive glass is often a zero or low deductible line.

The five questions everybody asks

Will my insurance actually cover it?

Usually, under comprehensive rather than collision, and a glass claim does not touch your at-fault record. We bill the insurer directly and you pay only the deductible, if there is one.

Bring the policy number to the phone call and we can tell you what you owe before we order the glass, not after it is fitted.

Does my car need the camera recalibrated?

If it was built after roughly 2018 and has lane keeping, adaptive cruise or automatic braking, then yes, and it is not optional. The forward camera sits on the glass. Move the glass and the camera is aimed wrong.

We do static recalibration in the shop with the targets and the scan tool, and print the before and after report for your file. Any shop that replaces a windshield on an ADAS car and hands it back without one has left you with a safety system that thinks the road is somewhere it is not.

Can you come to me?

For a straight replacement with no camera, yes, at your house or your work, inside the radius listed below. For a chip repair, yes, and it takes about half an hour in a parking space.

For an ADAS recalibration, no. Static recalibration needs a level floor, controlled light and clear space in front of the car, and a driveway is none of those. That job comes to the shop.

How long before I can drive it?

The fit takes about ninety minutes. The urethane needs to cure before the glass is structural again, and safe drive-away time is one hour on the adhesive we use, printed on the invoice.

Leave a window cracked an inch for the first day and skip the automatic car wash for two.

Is your glass the same as the dealer's?

We fit OEM equivalent from the same manufacturers who supply the assembly lines, and genuine OEM when you want it or when the ADAS bracket makes it the sensible choice. The difference is quoted, never assumed.

Our workmanship and the seal are warranted for as long as you own the vehicle. Stress cracks from a rock are not, because nothing can be.

Repair or replace

A repair is cheaper, faster and keeps the factory seal. It is also not always the right answer, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than after you have driven out.

Resin repair

Smaller than a quarter, outside the driver's direct line of sight, not at the edge, and not already spidering.

Half an hour, mobile, and it stops the break spreading. The blemish stays faintly visible. Anyone promising it will vanish is selling something.

Most insurers waive the deductible entirely

Full replacement

Longer than six inches, touching the edge, in front of the driver, or through more than one layer.

Glass ordered same day for common vehicles, next day for the rest. Old urethane cut back, pinchweld primed, new glass set, then recalibration if the car needs it.
